Semaglutide (Wegovy)

Semaglutide (SGT) is part of a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists, or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists. It increases insulin secretion, which is good for diabetes. But at higher doses, it acts on centers in the brain and suppresses appetite. It is important for patients to use this medication in conjunction with lifestyle intervention. What this medicine does is help patients adhere to a reduced-calorie diet. With obesity, you always need lifestyle changes plus medicine.

Semaglutide is indicated for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 27 kg/m² or greater who have at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as type 2 diabetes or hypertension, or in adults with a BMI of at least 30 kg/m². It is NOT indicated for those with Type 1 diabetes.

Wegovy™ is an injectable prescription medication for adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (excess weight) (BMI ≥27) who also have weight-related medical problems used with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity.

Wegovy™ works by mimicking a hormone that targets areas of the brain involved in regulating appetite and food intake. This can help you eat less, which can lead to weight loss.

Semaglutide

Tirzepatide (Zepbound)

Tirzepatide is a once-weekly GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. Tirzepatide is a single novel molecule that activates the body's receptors for GIP and GLP-1, which are natural incretin hormones. GIP is a hormone that may complement the effects of GLP-1 receptor agonism. GIP has been shown to decrease food intake while blunting the metabolic adaptive responses that usually occur with calorie restriction resulting in weight reductions, and when combined with GLP-1 receptor agonism, may result in greater effects on markers of metabolic dysregulation such as body weight, glucose and lipids.

Liraglutide (Saxenda)

Is another GLP-1 receptor agonist which works by suppressing appetite, delaying gastric emptying, and feeling of fullness. This leads to reduction in calorie intake, resulting in weight loss.

Is an injectable medication used in conjunction with lifestyle changes to help with weight loss in adults who meet the criteria for weight management therapy.

Liraglutide

It works by mimicking the action of gut two hormones (GLP-1 & GIP) which helps in controlling your appetite and how much you eat, making you eat less and feel full faster.

Clinical trials have shown that Tirzepatide provides significant reductions in HbA1c levels, fasting plasma glucose, and postprandial glucose compared to placebo and other antidiabetic agents. Randomized control trials evidence suggests that combining Tirzepatide with intensive lifestyle modifications such as healthy diet and increase physical activities led to weight loss of around 18% of total body weight.

Natrexone/Bupropion hydrochloride (CONTRAVE)

Powerful cravings and insatiable hunger can make it difficult for patients to control their eating. CONTRAVE (naltrexone and bupropion) targets 2 areas of the brain to give patients more control of their eating. regulate feelings of pleasure when eating to help control cravings and works synergistically to curb hunger.

Phentermine hydrochloride/Topiramate (Qysmia)

A combination of two FDA-approved drugs: phentermine and topiramate in an extended-release formulation. Phentermine is indicated for short-term weight loss in overweight or obese adults who are exercising and eating a reduced calorie diet. Results from the two trials show that after one year of treatment with the recommended and highest daily dose of Qsymia, patients had an average weight loss of 6.7 percent and 8.9 percent, respectively, over treatment with placebo.

Phentermine Hydrochloride

Phentermine hydrochloride tablets are indicated as a short-term (a few weeks) adjunct in a regimen of weight reduction based on exercise, behavioral modification, and caloric restriction in the management of exogenous obesity for patients with an initial body mass index ≥30 kg/m2, or ≥27 kg/m2 in the presence of other risk factors (e.g. controlled hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia)

Medically Supervised Ketogenic & Intermittent Fasting Program

(Clean Start Weight Loss)

Our Clean Start Weight Loss program is a powerful combination of two effective tools-Intermittent Fasting and the Ketogenic Diet to create a comprehensive weight loss solution. Intermittent Fasting boosts metabolism, controls insulin, and helps reduce calorie intake, while Ketogenic diet maintains fat-burning in the body even after the fast is over.

Furthermore, the combination of intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet provides numerous health benefits beyond just fat loss.

  • It can improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, enhance cognitive function, and promote longevity.
  • Intermittent fasting helps regulate insulin levels and promotes fat burning by allowing the body to tap into its fat stores for energy. This leads to a steady and sustainable weight loss without the feelings of deprivation commonly associated with traditional calorie-restricted diets.
  • On the other hand, the ketogenic diet is characterized by a high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carbohydrate intake. This dietary approach shifts the body's metabolism into a state of ketosis, where it primarily uses ketones as a fuel source instead of glucose. This not only aids in fat burning but also provides a steady and sustained energy supply without the energy crashes commonly experienced with high-carbohydrate diets.
  • Moreover, ketones are a clean-burning fuel source that does not produce reactive oxygen species (ROSs), which can cause oxidative stress and damage to cells. This is in contrast to glucose metabolism, which can generate ROSs and contribute to various health issues.
  • The combination of intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet also emphasizes the consumption of real, nutrient-dense foods. This ensures that the body receives adequate nutrition and avoids the pitfalls of processed and highly refined foods.
  • Importantly, numerous studies have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of both intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet across various populations. These include children, the elderly, individuals with diabetes, and even those with heart disease, who are typically advised to limit fat intake.
  • In conclusion, the combination of intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet has been identified as the gold standard for fat loss and improved health. It offers numerous benefits, including sustainable fat loss, improved metabolic function, reduced oxidative stress, and overall better nutrition. Moreover, it has been shown to be safe for individuals of all ages and various health conditions.
